Notes indicate this specimen is simply "white metal". Harold sold another which was copper based and silvered, and kept this.
Purchased from the collection of Duc de Meppem, where many 18th century buttons had been hidden in a riding stable in Beaulieo-sur-mer. This collection was sold in auction by Sotheby's and Joseph Stawski purchased it for Harold in 1964.
